configdef is a simple yet versatile configuration system created for Tcl developers, especially extension writers. While it could be used in any kind of project, at this point in its development configdef is not a general purpose facility like Gnu configure or cmake.
Created in Tcl, an advantage of configdef is that it works on virtually all common platforms. Also, configdef accomplishes its job of generating Makefiles without relying on shell scripts. And when needed, configdef capabilities are easily extended via standard Tcl.
The distribution archive contains ready-to-run Linux and Windows binaries that just need to be copied to a suitable location on the exec path. If source is modified or using another OS, the executable files are readily regenerated. This is fully described in the project documentation.
