Monotypes can be produced using many methods. The example prints shown here were made with ordinary artist acrylic paints which were allowed to dry and "reactivated" with appropriate solvents. The resulting "ink" is then applied to paper under high pressure.

One merit of this technique is that layering of colors is much easier vs. conventional etching inks, which favors interesting effects when transparent colors are used.
